2015 Jumpathon! January 23rd, 2015

The 2015 theme of the Jumpathon - Let's be Heart Healthy!

All 3rd and 4th grade students showed their commitment to the American Heart Association at the annual Jumpathon on Friday, January 23rd in Anderson Gym.  What a great time we all had jumping, pumping, pumping, and more jumping!  As you know, heart disease is the number one killer in America.  Breck students were diligent in their efforts to collect donations to help fight heart disease.  Students were informed that IF the third and fourth graders were able to raise $8,000 or more, there would be a big physical education party in the fieldhouse with games and treats!  If not, the class that was able to raise the most money would have the party.  The students were divided into eight teams:  veins, arteries, ventricles, atrium, blood, pulse, aorta, and the vena cava.  Posters were hung at each team area with information regarding area of the circulatory system.  While students were waiting to jump, three word find and puzzles were available for the students to work and learn about the most important muscle of the body - THE HEART!

Below are some examples of the various team signs that the students made.

One team name - the atrium

Students were able to learn the different parts of the circulatory system

Ventricles- the lower chambers of the heart - and the STRONGEST CHAMBER!

Fourth grade students active in the warm-up!
