Get those skates on Kindergarten students!

Minnesota may be the "land of 10,000 lakes in the summer - but once December comes, it becomes "land of 10,000 ice rinks!  As you know, we are fortunate to have the Breck Anderson ice rink for all students in grade K - 4 to enjoy.  Skating is part of the lower school physical education curriculum.  Students have two units (8 days each unit) to learn and test their skills at the ice rink with their classmates. The bus ride seems to be just as fun as the skating lesson!  Although the kindergarten students do not have skating as part of the PE curriculum, all kindergarten classes enjoy the ice rink 4 times throughout the winter months.  On Friday, February 5th, all kindergarten students loaded the buses for their 3rd skating experience.  These outings to the ice arena will ready the students for the skating units in grades 1-4.  Each outing to the rink demonstrates the students' independence and increased comfort on their skates.  The last skating outing will be on Friday, March 11th.  All parents are always invited on the ice - helmets are required!  Below are some pictures of my kindergarten students enjoying skating, chair skating, and just relaxing!

These new skating aids for our beginner skaters have made the experience safer and easier.

Are you kidding?  one legged balance!

                                                       Thank you Mrs. Wegner!

Parents also rock on the ice!
